IE SUX!To whom it may concern:

Internet Explorer sux! It is complete & total trash and so are the other browsers that are based off of the IE Engine. I implore those of you on Windows systems to consider one of the many other browser choices that are available. Just a few of my recommendations (aka favorites in order of preference): Some of you who are not familiar with web design lingo: Please trust me and download one of the waaaaaay better alternatives I listed above. Those of you who do know web design lingo: You trust me too -- Perhaps you have already gotten one of the better browsers installed on your machine? Wonderful! I'm sure you can attest to my findings that IE Sux! which is actually code for "IE is not compliant with CSS and with other official, wide-used standards such as PNG, and renders xhtml as if it is html. It also totally trashes correctly written XML so that you have to write fixes specifically to get it to work in IE."

Um... Anyway - here's a shortlist of what IE6 cannot do. IE7 corrects some of the issues, but it still fails in so many areas. The IE8 Beta2 looks a bit better, but I have not extensively tested it just yet, nor do I plan on testing it because I subscribe to the ideology that IE Sux!

Okay - Now that that's settled ==> The Shortlist:

The IE6 Ugh...
  • Cannot nest inline or horizontal lists
  • Cannot display png transparency
  • Cannot utilize min/max height css properties
  • Adds phantom margin’s to any floated block element
  • Adds phantom margins to content floated to the right, but not left
IE SUX!Important css elements that when applied appropriately will show just fine in Opera, Firefox and many other browsers, but in IE - renders your page a haughty mess.

IE7 Fixed All of Those Issues, But Now It...
  • Adds phantom margins to all floated elements, ignoring css overrides and !important
  • Adds phantom margins to border stylings
The only way to fix these problems is to stop supporting the Internet Explorer browser. IE6 is beyond obsolete. An interesting analogy: Remember the Gremlin?  Not the movie, but the car...?  Well - IE is the Gremlin of internet browsers: It is old (never a classic), ugly, horribly bla and is destined for the car compactor to salvage scrap metal.  And if we were to analogize IE to the movie Gremlins...  Well...  Let's just say it has poor special effects and eventually will be forgotten until some 30-something computer geek like Jacquii reminds you of it.

Anyway - now that the prerequesite analogies are out of the way...  Make the switch today!  Because truly - If you browse with IE6 you deserve to deal with messy & broken pages for being so many many many years behind what I like to call "the technology boom."  Wink
